Two Wooden Bridges
The Trusal Covered Bridge and the nearby highway bridge are both constructed of wood. The highway bridge has several large laminated wooden beams that support the bridge.
Sunlight in the Bridge
Since 1870, on late sunny afternoons, the sunshine has streamed into the interior of the Trusal Covered Bridge. Trusal is the oldest and smallest of Indiana County's covered bridges.

Before the Bridge was Painted
Around 1965 the county's four remaining covered bridges were painted red. Until then they had been left unpainted.
Yes, you may find a black snake at our covered bridges from time to time. This one was basking in a sunny spot inside the Trusal Bridge one day. Black Rat Snakes are completely harmless and feed on mice and other rodents. This one's descendants have probably lived in and around the Trusal Bridge since it was constructed in 1870.
