Route 56 crosses over the Ghost Town Trail about halfway between Dilltown and Heshbon. This photo was taken from the Route 56 bridge which spans Blacklick Creek. Just downstream of here is where the Buena Vista Furnace is located.
When a large portion of the village of Smickjsburg was condemned for flood control purposes the graves in the town's cemetery were moved to a new location along Route 954. This tombstone somehow ended up in Little Mahoning Creek and during periods of low water becomes exposed.
The colorful Cardinal flower blooms profusely along the banks of the North Branch of Blacklick Creek. look for it along the Rexis Branch of the Ghost Town Trail.
