A photo of Buttermilk Falls, Indiana County, PA taken on May 18, 2015.
This observation deck is where you view Buttermilk Falls. The deck was constructed by a crew from the Pennsylvania Conservation Corps.
Mid-April is not only the start of trout season but the time of year when the Trout Lily blooms. The wildflower is named for the pattern of the leaves which resembles a trout. You will notice in them in damp woods and swampy areas. Not all of the plants flower each year so there will be many more leaves on the ground than there are flowers blooming.
