Brilliant purple New England Asters dot the fields of our parks in the fall of the year.
A recent survey of Hemlock Lake turned up Spotted Salamanders, Red-bellied Snakes, Wehrle's Salamanders, Ring-necked snakes and Eastern Red-backed Salamanders. All found within an area of a few hundred feet of one another. There are a wide variety of reptiles and amphibians right underneath your feet if you take the time to look for them.
These brilliant orange colored bracket fungi were found growing on an oak tree at Blue Spruce Park.
