The grounds of the Buttermilk Falls Natural Area once had extensive landscaping installed by workers employed by Fred McFeely. This iris, located near a former patio area blooms each May.
This pavilion at the Buttermilk Falls Nautral Area is available frre of charge. In addition to the pavilion there is a charcoal grill (no electric). A handicapped accessible restroom is located near here. The location was a former patio area that Fred McFeely used to entertain guests to his cottage at the falls. A young Freddie Rogers (Mr. McFeely's famous grandson) also spent time here.
Besides its scenic waterfall the Buttermilk Falls Natural Area is also known as the home of some very large trees, especially the Beech trees that are found here.
