The Eliza Furnace has witnessed many snow storms in its years. From 1846 until today the furnace has been a silent sentinel of the coming and goings and the passing of time at its location along the banks of Blacklick Creek.
Palmer Run is a mountain stream that tumbles down Penn View Mountain through State Game Lands 276 before entering Blacklick Creek. As the stream knifes it way through the mountain it meets resistant rock formations that create small but interesting bedrock falls.
Winter sunshine belies the fact that it was -2 when we snapped this photo on a trip to see the frozen falls.
