Wood Frogs will deposit their eggs in about any watery spot they come across. This particular egg mass was in the middle of a field in a low-lying area where water seasonally collects. The trick is to lay eggs in a place where the water will last long enough for the tadpoles to fully develop.

A nighttime snow likely forced these swans to land at the lake at Blue Spruce Park to avoid the storm. Swans land here from time to time but not on a regular basis. Typically they land at larger lakes in the county as they migrate.
