These kayakers launched from the Waterworks Conservation Area to begin their journey down Two lick Creek. Under the right stream conditions this is a good stream for beginners to try kayaking. A take-out is located 6 miles downstream in Homer City, PA.
The massing of Spotted Salamanders in vernal pools is known as a 'Salamander Congress'. This congress only occurs on a few nights each year in early spring after a rain on the first warm night of early spring. The males group together in these masses while the females generally sit off to the side waiting for their suitors.
