This black and white photo from our archives is dated September 1969. The Trusal Bridge is the oldest covered bridge in Indiana County still standing, constructed in 1870. The bridge remains but the setting today is more pastoral with open farmland and not as wooded as it appears in this photo. Nonetheless, it's a great spot in one of Indiana County's most scenic areas.
"The misty dawns of late summer are as much a part of the season as are daisies and goldenrod. The mist fills the valley and settles over ponds and streams like smoke before sunrise, and with dawn's first light there is curling and wreathing with mysterious little air currents playing tag. Then the sun rises and the whole filmy curtain begins to lift." - Hal Borland Photo taken on late August morning at Blue Spruce Park.
Morning sun along the Rexis Branch of the Ghost Town Trail highlights the fall colors on this scenic part of the trail.
