Winter sunshine falls onto the Pennsylvania Canal at the Tunnelview Historic Site. This 900-foot section of the canal is one of the few places remaining in western Pa where the original canal trace can be viewed. The 40 foot wide canal was dug by hand, mainly by Irish immigrant workers.
A load of coal cars passes over the Tunnelview Historic Site on the High Level Bridge.
At the Bow tunnel the works of man and nature combine to form intersting winter art. Water from the roof of Bow Tunnel drips on to the floor of the tunnel creating stalagmites. The stalagmites reach higher and higher as the winter proceeds. They often remain well after winter recedes.
