The flowers of White Penstemon bloom in our meadow at Blue Spruce Park. The plant grows to heights of four feet with these showy flowers in clusters that pollinators like bees and hummingbirds love.
This white oak tree graces the lawn of Blue Spruce Park and provides a nice backdrop for sunsets at the park.
It's the official butterfly of the state of Maryland but from time to time we come across Baltimore Checkerspots here in Indiana County. A colorful butterfly that uses the Turtlehead plant as its host. There were several of these puddling in a moist sandy area when we saw this one.
