As it first emerges the skunk cabbage sometimes takes on colorful appearance. The tiny yellow flowers can be seen inside the spathe of the plant.

The Buena Vista Furnace is located along the Ghost Town Trail about halfway between Heshbon and Dilltown. Since it was constructed in 1848 the furnace has witnessed 169 seasons along the banks of Blacklick Creek.
