We were sorry to learn of the passing of David Russell on February 22, 2015. David was a true friend and avid supporter of our parks and trails. He and his wife Penny demonstrated their love and commitment to the natural world by donating a 675 acre tract of land that will forever be preserved as the Blacklick Valley Natural Area. David planted the blue spruce trees that are found throughout the property when he operated the Pine-sylvania Christmas Tree Farm here. He and Penny walked the property many times, sharing their love of nature and the natural world, which they remained inspired by their entire lives. Although David and Penny are now both gone their legacy remains for other generations to enjoy and appreciate.
Come spring the delicate blue and purple violets will graces the edges of Clarke Run at the Blacklick Valley Natural Area.
You will find 6 miles of trails at the Blacklick Valley Natural Area, many are grassy paths like this one that lead throughout the varied habitat of the property.
