A Luna Moth holds onto a bare stem while resting during the day. Come night it will be out flying for the final week of its adult life.
Typically they are only seen at nighttime but sometimes a Luna Moth will be encountered resting during the day. In this adult stage the Luna Moth only lives about one week and does not eat anything during that time. In our area the adult Luna Moths generally appear twice a year, usually in April/May and again in late summer.
Volunteers from the Summit Church of Indiana, PA spent time on Saturday April 23, 2016 doing a clean-up of the conservation area's landscape beds.
