Wehrle's Salamanders are identified by the irregular shaped blotching on the side of the bodies. They also have webbed hind feet. This is a woodland salamander that lives under rocks on hillsides, they do not have an aquatic phase. Eggs are laid underground in deep crevices
Melting snow has made Hires Run flow at peak levels. There is still some snow on the paths at Buttermilk Falls but the site is gradually showing signs of Spring.
