Mr. Rogers Featured on U.S. Postage Stamp

Fred Rogers, who often visited Buttermilk Falls as a young boy, will be featured on a new stamp being issued by the U.S. Postal Service. Fred visited Buttermilk Falls to spend time with his grandfather, Mr. McFeely, who once owned the property that now comprises the natural area.

Ancient Resident

For as long as water has flowed over Buttermilk Falls salamanders have lived here. Seal Salamanders, who have a preference for waterfalls, are one of the salamander species that live here.

Liverworts

Liverworts are a group of plants similar to mosses. They are far different than most plants because they do not produce seeds, flowers, fruit or wood. Instead of seeds, liverworts produce spores for reproduction.

Jacob Sweitzer Interpretive Panel

Jacob Sweitzer was a local artist who painted many scenes in and around the Buttermilk Falls area. The panels highlight his interesting life and artwork. Sweitzer was a self-taught artist whose artworks have gained increasing interest from collectors over the years.
