    Rumspringa

Rumspringa is a term that loosely translates to mean "jumping" or "hopping" around. Amish youths use this time to socialize and meet up with their 'buddy groups'. It's a time to find a potential mate and to experince life away from their home life. Sunday evenings are typially when rumpsring takes place in the Amish communitis in this area.

    Tree Frogs

By late April Tree Frogs can be heard calling along the edges of Hemlock Lake. Females seek out males based on their calls. After a period of mating, which can sometimes go on for a few hours, the females then lay their eggs in nearby water. Tree frogs spend most of their time in trees, but in winter they move to underground far enough to avoid freezing.
