Vintondale was the site of a large number of coke ovens during its heyday. This photo taken c. 1906 shows the bee hive ovens under construction. The ovens operated until the early 1940s. The photo is from the Denise Dusza Weber Collection. The railroad in the background is where the Ghost Town Trail is located at today.
You will find this historical marker for Malcolm Cowley along Route 422 in the White Mill area of Cambria County not far from the Ghost Town Trail.
