The Ghost Town Trail was selected as Pennsylvania's Trail of the Year for 2020 by the PA Department of Conservation & Natural Resources.

The ghost town of Wehrum once had all the services that any community would need. Besides a company store the town had a bank, jail, hotel, community water system and a train station.

Wehrum Bony Pile Removal - 1..6.2020
One of the goals of the Ghost Town Trail project was to improve environmental conditions in the Blacklick Creek valley. This bony pile at the former town of Wehrum has been in place since the late 1920s. It is finally being removed in 2020 under a contract that the PA DEP has with a contractor to remove the pile and reclaim the area.

Power Poles on Rexis Branch
Hidden in the woods along the Rexis Branch of the GTT are several of these angle iron pole. The pole were used to provide electric power to a larg ventilation fan that serviced the Vintondale #6 Mine.

A Shirt Free Day
Ebensburg is located at the highest elevation on the Ghost Town Trail. At slightly more than 2,000 feet elevation, the town is known for colder temperatures and higher snowfall totals than other nearby areas. But on a near 80 degree in May the shirts come off.

An antique, collectibles shop in Nanty Glo, PA that has adopted the name after the Ghost Town Trail.

Red Mill Bridge on the Rexis Branch
Panoramic view of the Red Mill Bridge on the Rexis Branch of the Ghost Town Trail. The bridge was built to replace a railroad bridge that washed away during the 1977 flood that devastated the Blacklick Creek valley.
C&I Extension Parking
Parking for the C&I Extension on the Ghost Town Trail is available on Vic Miller Road which is located near Belsano, PA. There is a paved parking area for about 5 vehicles here. The C&I Extension is currently 8 miles in length.
At the Finish
Runners in the 2017 Veteran's Marathon are greeted at the finish by Tim and Sally Kronenwetter and Tom Fetterman.
Route 422 Underpass
This underpass takes you beneath Route 422 at the end of the Rexis Branch of the Ghost Town Trail.
